hero wouters is a dutch artist who has been active since 1950. through the years he has been involved in many (music) projects. his work in the field of electronic music ranges from synthpop to experimental music. some people might know him from his collaborations with the legendary pink dots and edward ka-spel. other people might know him from his contributions to the obscure contactdisk vinyl series or his appearance on the legendary dutch ding-dong tape label. featured on this lp is work by hero wouters from 1982, 1984, and 1986. most of the material was written for a dutch film (�een zaak van leven en dood�) and a theatre play (�laios�). the music has been (partly) released on cassette on hero�s own label herophone. now it is for the first time available on vinyl. the music has been restored from the original tapes and mastered for vinyl with great care not to loose the original feeling. below you can find soundclips for the tracks but we feel these do not give a really good impression of the record. the music (and the record) have to be heard in total (and as a whole) to be fully experienced and appreciated. we are proud to present this beautiful and simply fantastic music by a dutch artist that deserves more attention. the wonderful cover artwork is a drawing by maaike.

rat life is back with more unheard material from the hidden bedroom studios of east germany. one day in metropia - is a project that was active around the year 2008 - operating out of the concrete suburbs of dresden. its main focus were live appearances in the citie s underground electronic music circle. just a few signals of its enormous creative output were published on various sound carriers to this day. so it was time to release some more of this large bulk of data that has been lurking on storage devices for years. rat life s operator credit 00 is proud to be allowed to contribute a remix version to this sonic document. have a nice day in metropia!

the squirrels are back. their second platter comes courtesy of kit n c.l.a.w.s. (say it out loud), the cheekily-named collaborative project from squirrels on film co-founder brian hock and veteran san francisco producer kit clayton, and just like the label s first record, it s a woozy, wobbly trip designed for dancefloors drifting between dimensions. savvy techno heads will recognize kit clayton s name from his decades of experience at the avant-garde of electronic music. in the late 90s, he and partners tang tran and juan mendez (now better known as silent servant) launched cytrax, a groundbreaking minimal techno label that paved the way for the clicks n cuts sound of the early aughts. his debut album � nek sanalet, first released in 1999 on stefan betke s seminal label ~scape and reissued in 2015 � remains one of dub techno s most enduring documents. meanwhile, brian hock moonlights as the drummer for deranged bay area post-punk outfit bronze while recording murky electro-techno excursions as c.l.a.w.s.

comet traxx is the new label of swiss prolific producer mirko loko, best known for his musical output on cadenza, visionquest and memento records. this new imprint is focused on cosmic grooves, with the aim to release quality timeless material. the first release on the label is the stunning -twin bang- album by the label honchos, mirko loko, delivering a modern sophisticated record with a very classic feeling, rich of collaborations with heavyweight musicians as derrick may and ursula rucker. for the next chapters of these astral tales, we can expect a spontaneous organic blend of electronic genres joined with a galactic touch: releases are not going to come only by mirko himself, but from interesting newcomers, as well as veterans as guido schneider who is in scheduled on the second catalogue number.

utter presents rgbpm, trevor jackson s four piece audio-visual work originally commissioned for a live performance at the optronica festival in 2007, on london s imax, the biggest screen in the uk. optronica, programmed by addictive tv/cinefeel in collaboration with the british film institute, held its second festival over five consecutive days at the imax, ica and bfi southbank in march 2007. a showcase of the most exciting talent working in visual music, optronica s 2007 event was a platform for live performances, talks, screenings and workshops from the likes of fennesz, peter greenaway and ryoichi kurokawa. jackson s piece took over six months to develop and yet was performed only once. on march 14th the premier of rgbpm opened the festival in spectacular fashion, jackson performing the music live with its accompanying hd visuals generated in real time using custom-built software created especially by weirdcore. a powerful multi-sensory experience, the event remains one of the defining moments of jackson s lengthy career. the visuals consist of abstract shapes synchronised perfectly to jackson�s soundtrack. choreographed to represent musical elements within each track, they explore the relationship between melody, colour, rhythm and form. the diverse soundtrack combines magical motorik experiments, demented acidic jams, melodic subterranean techno and dark discordant electronic soundscapes. it s a timeless selection of music that holds its own to this day. a decade on from rgbpm s lone airing, utter is proud to release all four parts together for the first time as a special 12- package, mastered and cut by helmut erler at d&m and housed in a sleeve designed by jackson himself.

august sees us return to where it all began with a very special record from founding x-kalay artist, kask.
although relatively quiet on the release front since his x-kalay ep dropped in january 2016, andreas has been keeping himself busy helping establish tallinn as one of the most forward thinking and underrated electronic music communities in europe.

check track 3 .... field records looks to l estasi dell oro (christopher ernst, aka penalune) for a new three-track ep for sound systems that once again takes us down the rabbit hole. following on from his previous i look upon nature while i live in a steel city album in 2015, this is another masterfully drawn out and engaging affair. -either to please or to educate- is the intended purpose of this ep release, utilizing guitar, tabla, and other electronic and acoustic instruments. the incessant movement of the metronomic tremors felt underneath our plains lay the rhythm. the threadbare dialogue we use to communicate frays slightly further. these spirals are given an explicit voice through leader annabelle kuwe s dispassioned public address to the remaining world at the great meeting of 2166, as recounted by sadie lapierre on closer achieve ignition .

repress - without dl code - susso, aka bassist / producer huw bennett, creates music inspired by, and directly sampling, the magnificent sounds of the mandinka people, recorded during a recent trip to gambia. initially travelling with the aim of gaining perspective as a musician and to discover a new world of music first hand, huw found himself humbled by such a welcoming community of artists, mostly belonging to the celebrated susso and kuyateh griot families.
the tracks are composed entirely from original source material, field recordings and huw�s talents as a multi-instrumentalist, performing tuned percussion from the region including the mandinka balafon, kutiringding drum, aswell drawing on his skill as a professional upright / electric bassist. the music produced has a contemporary electronic sound, whilst still paying homage to a traditional gambian aesthetic. keira (meaning peace) guides the listener through huw�s journey up the river gambia, being welcomed into remote dusty villages, where your people are the most important thing in life
